Feliz Cinco de Mayo!Posted under blog. 1:27 pm May 5, 2011
Here’s a history lesson for you…contrary to popular belief, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico’s Independence Day. It is a celebration of Mexico’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. The day is sparsely celebrated in Mexico, but has become a nationwide American celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. So, what better way to commemorate this historical day than with an Alter Ego original Speedy Gonzales duo!
This vintage Looney Tunes™ Speedy Gonzalez figurine is make of PVC plastic and measures approximately 2×2”. The collectable bracelet is decorated with large scale crystals, faux pearls, lucite and vintage buttons, beads and chain. It comes in a stretchable size small/medium and is part of our Looney Tunes™ Collection by Erika Walton.
Similarly styled, the Speedy Gonzales necklace is decorated with crystals, faux pearls, lucite along with vintage buttons, beads and chain. The necklace hangs approximately 24” long, with a silver lobster claw closure. Both pieces are handmade here in the USA–Cinco de Mayo’s number one fan.
Not sure what to wear with your new Gonzales goodies? Try on a sombrero or festive poncho! Or…you can just wear a tank top and jeans. It’s hot out there! The beauty of our Looney Tunes™ collection is that it can dress up any outfit, and sometimes it’s better to just let your jewelry do the talking.
